Birth of a Salesman
I finished another painting for the New York Italian series. It is from an old photo of my grandpa Vito Florio. Side note, he was awesome. I amplified the reds, whites, and blues to reflect on the America that he believed in, as an Italian immigrant, right after WW2. I also played with the movement of shapes, from the shadow cast on the house to the stripes on his tie to the diagonal clouds, to move the viewer's eye literally from the concrete steps to the cloudy sky, and metaphorically from the concrete to the intangible.
